This free and fun children’s activity will help your children learn Halloween adjectives over the Halloween holiday.

What are adjectives?

Start by explaining adjectives to your children. Adjectives are describing words. Examples are colours, sizes and feelings. Adjectives tend to pair with nouns (which we cover in another activity).

How to complete the activity?

First, find a pencil or crayon and to just click on the download link to download and print this resource. Then ask or help your child read the following sentences and underline the word that is a describing word. Though mention that some sentences contain more than one describing word.

All of the sentences are copied or adapted from the first few pages of the book Spid the Spider Gets Spooked at Halloween.

Reading the story should also help children learn more about the provenance of Halloween and realise that fear is just a state of mind. Also that fear can be overcome through rational thought.

The answers are shown on the second page of the resource. In total there are fifteeen Halloween adjectives to find and learn.
